Ok- If you are a yr 7 I will need you to practice making your yeast product at home. I will email your parents to ask them to support you with this.
Year 8-you need to get your boxes finished and your comments for each of the yr 8 students. We won't have enough time at school to finish.

Choose 3 adverts on the TV to analyse. Choose 3 different styles of advert. Write about each in terms of how they are trying to get you to buy their product/products. What strategies are they using? How are they successful? Listen to the language used- how does this serve to persuade the public?

Week 4
Watch the youtube clip on the blog. After watching, use an explanation text to tell me all about the fermentation process. Include how this process can be used in the food industry.
You can use new scientific vocabulary as long as you are clear that you can explain their meaning- eg 'Anaerobic'.
Use diagrams and pictures where appropriate.
Think about how you will set out your work- remember an introduction to your explanation, and finish with a conclusion. Always write in paragraphs. Plan what each paragraph will be about.
Complete on your googlesite- writing page. if no internet - use your homework books.
Week 3
Choose one of the main characters from Whalerider. Write a description of this character, focusing on their personality traits and their importance in the story so far. Use evidence from both versions- the book and the film. Complete on your term 4 writing page/ homework book if you have no internet. for friday
Mathletics- 500 minimum- for Monday.
Week 2
Whale rider research - to be used to create an information leaflet on Friday.

Literacy- Sort out your googlesite with your pages then find out as much as you can about Louis Pasteur. No copy and pasting!!!

Literacy- You must enter 2x 50 word entries online onto the short story competition. There are 3 categories so far. You must choose 2 to write for. Draft in your homework book first.

Week 9
This week we will focus on your Hanmer experiences! I would like you to choose 4 highlights from your camp, and write about them as a creative recount. These can include memories from the journeys/ activities/ dinners/ bunk rooms etc. Include a range in the 4 that you choose. I will give you time in class to complete them too. Two are to be completed at home. You can publish as a mini diary with 4 entries. Entitled Hanmer Highlights!

Week 5
Some great explanation tasks this week. We seem to be getting the hang of it! Those of you that have not created your explanation of an Olympic sport, this is your literacy task for this week. Remember all those explanation features we have been talking about.
For the rest of you you will begin to research your biographical text on an olympic athlete. In class we will be learning all the features. You will just need to research your Olympian and write a list of facts that you can use in a biography next week. Make a new sub page under literacy named biography., and collect them here.

Your explanation tasks were on the whole quite good. Some of you need to add more detail. This will be your homework this week. For the rest of you you will need to do another explanation text on an olympic sport of your choice. Add it to your literacy page.
Also tech reflection and Mathletics 500points.

Homework this week, will be to finish your Oscar Pistorius task where you are forming your own opinion, and choose a news story to add to a New 'News Stories' Page and write about your thoughts on it.
Also Mathletics - as much as you can do - aim for 1000 points.

Your homework this week is to finish creating your own googlesite and then send me the link via whiorox. You need to make all 6 pages plus any others you ma want to include. Choose your theme and fonts and begin some of the tasks I have set. I will set up a link for you from the blog so we can all view each others work.
